Hello!  Welcome to the webpage of the Eta Alpha Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

I am honored to serve as the Basileus (President) of this phenomenal chapter!  The motto of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is “Greater Service, Greater Progress!”  The women who serve as members of the Eta Alpha Sigma Alumnae Chapter uphold this motto through our collective efforts to serve the community of the Greater Sacramento Area.  Our initiatives focus on educating youth, supporting communities in need, and garnering national partnerships to maximize our impact on bettering our world.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized on November 12, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana by seven young educators: Mary Lou Allison Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Vivian White Marbury, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, Hattie Mae Dulin Redford, Bessie M. Downey Martin, and Cubena McClure. The group became an incorporated national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929 when a charter was granted to Alpha chapter at Butler University. Soaring To Greater Heights Of Attainment Around The World, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as a leading national service organization, has met the challenges of the day and continues to grow through Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service . Eta Alpha Sigma Graduate Chapter is the Alumni Chapter for the Sacramento, Davis, and Chico Areas and we are located in the Capitol City of Sacramento, California. We are a non profit, community service organization. The chapter was chartered on September 28, 1988 by seven of the graduate members. The chapter was later reactivated in 2000.
Eta Alpha Sigma Graduate Chapter addresses the needs of the community. We provide an environment for the community, and our sisterhood encourages teamwork, personal and professional growth, and engages them in a passion for education. By direct contributions and individual participation, the quality of life in the community is improved.
